Dear Father,

How often I stray from You. Most of the time, it’s not even intentional. I imagine that I’m on a firm foundation, that I’ve said my prayers and surrendered the day to You, only to discover that I simply drifted from Your side. Sometimes I drift away with the news. I try to discover the latest worldview of how to live, how to give, and how to react to the culture I live in. The more my mind tries to stretch and bend to meet the current standards, the less I truly see Your face.

I know that I have only one choice. I cannot always find You with head knowledge or with an eye to letting those around me live however it pleases them. I can’t always discern the options and possibilities, and I know that Your ways are not my ways. Lord, I pray to seek You with my heart. I pray that my heart will hope and trust and desire more of You. I pray that all those who look for You today will find You, willingly surrendering their hearts so that they can come back to You in peace.

Wrap Your arms around us and keep us safe from the world’s conflicts and deceptions. Let us come home to You every time we seek Your face.
